ZIMMERMAN, WILBER, RENDEL AND BUTTERS ALL CAPTURE BUTLER FEATURE WINS.
Doug Zimmerman in Winged Sprint Cars, Tim Wilber in UMP
Modifieds, Jake Rendel in Sportsman and Kevin Butters in Street Stocks all
captured feature wins at the Butler Motor Speedway.
A hot Saturday night
and a season winding down, would greet the racers as the UMP Modifieds would
roll out as the first feature event of the night. Steve Shellenberger and Ryan Crandall would lead the field to
green. The field would have a complete
restart as Doug McLachlan would slide off the backstretch. The restart would show Tim Wilber jumping out
to an early lead with Shellenberger in 2nd. A lap 4 yellow for Jarrett Rendel slowing in
turn 4 with a flat tire, would bring the field under caution. Wilber would lead at the restart green, while
3rd starting, and current point leader, Tommy Beezley would work his
way past Shellenberger for 2nd.
Several single car spins would bring the field under caution. Wilber would get to the checkered flag first
ahead of Beezley. Shellenberger, Jake
Rendel and Josh Lolmaugh would round out the top 5. Wilber, Shellenberger and Tommy Beezley would
capture the heat races. Eric Swan would
capture the B main.
The Sportsman would
hit the 3/8 mile next for there feature event with Jake Rendel and Dwayne
Feltner leading the field to green.
Rendel would jump to an early lead, with Feltner settling into 2nd. A lap 2 yellow would fly for a Kevin Gutting
spin. Gutting, making his first 2012
start, would continue. Tim Wilber, who
started 12th on the grid, would move around Jarrett Rendel on the
restart and settle into 3rd behind Rendel and Feltner. Wilber, Rendel and Feltner are all locked
into a close season long points battle, but on this night, the battle would be
for the feature win. A couple minor
incidents would slow the field, but Jake Rendel would capture the feature win
over Wilber. Jarrett Rendel, Fred
VanEvey and Steve Langdon would round out the top 5. Feltner, who was running the top groove in 2nd
place, would slip off the banking with 3 to go and kept his momentum going,
however, by that time the field had driven by with Feltner finishing 7th. Feltner and Fred VanEvey would capture the
heat races.
The Winged Sprint
Car feature would roll off next with Nic Rogers and Mike Burns leading the
field to green. Contact on the first lap
would collect the cars of Ken Mackey and Len Robison. Mackey's car would suffer significant damage
and retire for the night. On the
restart, Rogers
would jump to the early lead. Rogers would lead the
first 3 circuits until 3rd starting Kevin Atkins would get by for
the lead. Current point leader, and 7th
starting Doug Zimmerman, would get by Atkins when the pair worked thru lapped
traffic. Zimmerman would extend his lead
while the fight would be for the runner up position as Trey Smith had engaged
in the battle with Atkins. Smith would
get by for 2nd. The yellow
would fly on lap 24 setting up a one lap shoot out for the win. Zimmerman would go on to the win over
Smith. Atkins, Rogers, and Max Stambaugh
would round out the top 5. Heat wins
went to Rogers, Atkins and Tim Evilsizer.
Chris Jones would capture the B main, driving the yellow 10J to his
first Butler Motor Speedway checkered flag.
The Street Stocks
would be the final feature race of the night with Jarrett Rendel and Charles Smith
leading the field to green. Rendel would
jump to the early lead, piloting the car normally driven by his dad Bob
Rendel. 3rd starting Kevin
Butters would waste little time, moving past Rendel on lap 2. A lap 4 yellow would fly when Sheryll Dishaw
would lose an engine and spin. Todd
Smith would get into the oil and make hard front end contact with Dishaw. Fortunately, both drivers were ok, but, they
would both be done for the night.
Butters would continue to lead over Rendel, Terry Milliman, Chris
Garrett and Jake Rendel. A lap 13 yellow
would slow the field when Jake Rendel and Jeff Hinkley, Jr would get together,
resulting in flat tires on both cars.
Both cars would go pitside to get tires changed. Back to the green it would be Butters collecting
the win over Garrett. Jarrett Rendel,
Terry Bumpus and Don Hopkins would round out the top 5. Heat races were won by Butters, Jake Rendel,
Garrett and Dallas Prater. Kyle
Kulikowski captured the B main.
This Saturday Sep 1
the rescheduled fireworks show will take place.
The July fireworks show had to be postponed due to the burn restrictions
placed on the township because of the excessive heat. This show is always a fan favorite and is
almost certain to be a packed house. Get
to the track early to secure your seats while Butler Motor Speedway lights up
the sky and puts a full 4 in 1 program on the track. If that wasn't enough, the Mini Sprints will
join the full program, making it a 5 in 1 racing program, plus the fireworks
program. BUTLER MOTOR SPEEDWAY 3 DAY SHOW REGISTRATION
