ROGERS, WILBER AND HILLER CAPTURE FEATURE WINS.
Nic Rogers in Winged Sprint Cars, Tim Wilber in UMP
Modifieds and Sportsman, and Keith Hiller in Street Stocks captured feature
wins at the Butler Motor Speedway.
Saturday at Butler
Motor Speedway was an interesting day for the fans and staff of the speedway as
it was originally scheduled to be the Josh Hadley Memorial mid season
championships and fireworks. After the
township was put under a burn ban on Thursday evening, fire officials met with
track officials and the decision was made to pull the plug on the fireworks for
the night. With people saddened by the
news of no fireworks, the mood quickly changed as the 5th Annual
Josh Hadley Memorial Mid Season championships were set to go off as
planned. With trophies going out to the
racers, the real excitement was for the kids.
The Hadley family, with help from the racers, gave away at least 20
bicycles, as well as fishing gear, die cast cars, t shirts and frisbies for the
kids on hand. Many smiling faces walked
back up into the stands with the prizes they had won, and it would be on to
feature racing. A huge thank you goes
out to the Hadley family and the racer participation for making the 5th
Josh Hadley Memorial race a success.
The Sportsman
feature would roll out for there feature with Steve Langdon and Dwayne Feltner
bringing the field to green. Tim Wilber,
starting in 4th, would waste little time and take the lead on lap
2. A lap 12 yellow for a spinning Rick
Heath would slow the field. Back to
green and Wilber would go on to capture the win over Feltner, Jake Rendel,
Langdon and Logan Beckwith. Heat races
went to Wes Bates and Langdon.
The UMP Modified
feature would roll out next with Tim Wilber and Kevan Free leading the field to
green, with Wilber jumping out to the lead.
The race would be slowed 3 times for minor spins, and Wilber would go on
to capture the feature win over Josh Lolmaugh, Free, Jake Rendel and Dillon
Nusbaum. Heat races would be won by Mike
Tarlton, Lolmaugh, Steve Shellenberger and Wilber. B mains were won by Mitch Kirkendall and
Brandon Ordway.
Next out would be
the Winged Sprint Car feature with Tom Davies and Nic Rogers leading the field
to the green. The yellow would fly for a
spinning Tom Davies. It was ruled that
contact from the Doug Zimmerman ride would send Zimmerman to the tail and
Davies back in to the 2nd position.
Nic Rogers would continue to lead while Zimmerman would charge from the
tail. A couple of yellows for single car
spins and a 2 car crash that would end Marques Huffer's night, however Rogers
would not be beaten. Rogers would cross the stripe for his first
career A main feature win over Chris Jones.
Len Robison, Zimmerman and Troy Chehowski would round out the top 5. Heat wins went to Zimmerman and Ryan
Kirkendall.
The Street Stocks
would be the final feature event of the night with Terry Bumpus and Keith
Hiller bringing the field to green. The
yellow would wave for debris, and a couple single car spins. A late race red would halt the race after a
crash that involved Matt Rose and Josh Garrett.
With the race winding down, a
spirited duel would set up between Hiller and Chris Garrett, with Hiller
holding off Garrett for the win. Sheryll
Dishaw would run 3rd, while Kevin Butters and Jake Rendel would
round out the top 5. Heat races were won
by Chris Garrett, Don Hopkins, Butters and Bumpus. Jarrett Rendel and Zach Hiser captured the B
main events.
This Saturday, the
Butler Motor Speedway will have a full 4 in 1 program and the legends of the
past. Come out and see the cars and stars
from days past.
